Obituary For Purificacion Salak

Purification “Pupeng” Salak passed away on Tuesday the 20th of August with her family by her side at Washington Hospital.

"Nanay Pupeng," as she liked to be called by her family, was born December 17, 1934, in Camarines Sur, Philippines to Agatona Colinares and Mariano Salak. She loved good food, bingo, and watching over the family dogs. Above all, she treasured time and outings with family and friends.

Nanay Pupeng was a creature of habit. She was not great at technology, but she learned how to use an iPad so she could readily check the winning numbers for the Powerball, Mega Millions, and California Lottery. Her signature look was a pair of dark cotton joggers and an oversized sweater (because it’s too cold everywhere), her close-cropped silver hair, and, of course, her infectious smile.

She is survived by her only daughter, Nenita; grandchildren Barbara, Mae, and Mark; several nieces and nephews; and family dogs, George, Max, and Bridget.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 at 5:00 PM at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont.
