I have so many great memories of my Abuelita growing up. I remember my Tia Silvia and Letty telling me to ask for money so we could go to the corner store and get a lot of candy.I remember making jiffy pop popcorn on the weekends that my sister Grace and I would spend there.I remember taking corn tortillas cutting them up and making our own corn chips.I also remember looking through a photo album and telling my Abuelita I don't remember taking this picture in front of this old car,she said no that's not you that is your papa.I never knew how much me and my dad looked alike. I know she is in heaven with my dad my Abuelito my tia Yolanda and all of our family that has gone before us.I know when its time for me to meet my maker we will be together again all the Melendrez clan one big happy family. I miss you Abuelita you are in my thoughts and prayers always. Love Ruben Melendrez

I remember as a young lad Tio domacio and Tia Petra coming to sunnyside and visit Grandma Petra. I will always remember the laughter and humor of Tia Petra. Walking in Grandmas house to the sound of everyone laughing joking around, and in the back ground you could smell coffee, breakfast being made and Pan Dulce always on the table. Her smile and voice could light up a room. She was the foundation of what family, love and respect of one another was build upon. She will be greatly missed. Although it has been a very long time since I last seen her, I will always remeber her loving personality and her laugh. Love you tia Petra and may you now be at home with the good lord. May you finally reunite with the family melendrez. Please do me a favor and give them all a hug and kiss for me. Love you Tia.

I have so many fond memories of my Abuelita. What I remember most and will miss is her smile and laughter. She always seemed so much younger than her age. She loved spending time with family and feeding us. I remember when I was a child her giving me quarters so we could walk to the store for penny candies. Later as an adult, me and my family would visit during Christmas and she would feed us tamales. I ran into her at the Pleasanton Fair a couple of times. The last time I ran into her at the Low Rider Car Show at Kennedy Park in Union City. These are memories I will cherish. I am comforted that she is no longer suffering and with my abuelito, Damacio, my father Ruben Melendrez and my Tia Yolanda Flores and all her loved ones who have passed. I love you Abuelita and will miss you until we meet again. Love, Grace Melendrez Carr
